Inspiration for design is all around us. What we see, hear, taste, smell, and experience, spark our imaginations and compel us to express ourselves creatively. For me, that comes in the form of designing apparel, graphics, and textiles. My process might start with photographing interesting images, hand sketching ideas, using computer software to manipulate lines and colors, or walking through a store just to touch the various textures of items. But no matter how it starts, it will end up as an artistic expression in
drygoods form.
The term drygoods is old school. In the 1700's it was used to describe bolts of textiles that were sold as yard goods for making apparel and simple home fashions. But as time progressed, the local mercantile which sold fabrics, began including a wide variety of basic home hard goods as well. Similarly, my creative work began as graphics for printed materials and textiles, but has grown to include designing apparel and accessories for the active lifestyle.
